A WONDERFUL LATE 15TH CENTURY OAK SCULPTURE OF THE APOSTLE OF ST THOMAS. CIRCA 1480.

THIS OAK SCULPTURE DEPICTS ST THOMAS HOLDING A CARPENTERS SQUARE RULE IN HIS RIGHT HAND AND A PURSE HOLDING HIS BIBLE IN HIS LEFT HAND. ORIGINALLY AN ARCHITECT HE OFFERED TO BUILD A PALACE FOR AN INDIAN KING THAT WOULD LAST FOREVER, THE KING GAVE HIM THE MONEY WHICH ST THOMAS PROMPTLY GAVE AWAY TO THE POOR. NORTHERN EUROPEAN.
