A STUNNING AND RARE 18TH CENTURY BURR ELM HEXAGONAL CRICKET TABLE. CIRCA 1750.

THE ALMOST 2" THICK BURR TOP INLAID WITH TWO HEARTS AND A CLOVER LEAF , WITH A SIMPLE MOULDED EDGE. STANDING ON THREE SIMPLE POLE TURNED LEGS WITH A CIRCULAR UNDERSHELF, WITH THE MOST UNUSUAL SLAB BASE. THE POLE LEGS CONTINUE THROUGH THE SLAB BASE AND ARE FLUSH WITH THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BASE. THE HEAVY SLAB BASE IS PROBABLY A COUNTER BALANCE FOR THE HEAVY BURR TOP TO GIVE THE WHOLE TABLE STABILITY.WONDERFUL COLOUR AND PATINATION.
