AN AMAZING MID 17TH CENTURY ENGLISH CARVED OAK WALL CUPBOARD OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY. CIRCA 1650.

THIS STUNNINGLY CARVED WALL CUPBOARD WOULD HAVE ADORNED A STATELY DINING HALL, INCORPORATING A GLASS PERCH WITH ARCHED TOP, ABOVE A FRUITWOOD SPINDLED DOLE CUPBOARD WITH CENTRAL DOOR AND BELOW AN ENCLOSED HUTCH CUPBOARD CARVED WITH ARCHADING AND LOZENGES. EVERY INCH OF THE FRONT OF THIS CUPBOARD DISPLAYS A MASTER CARVERS CRAFT. THE ARCHED TOP WITH LUNETTES, FLOWER HEADS, LEAF AND BUD AND PUNCHWORK DECORATION. THE SIDE MUNTINS AND DIVIDING MUNTINS ALL WITH GULOCHE CARVING WITH FLOWER CENTRES. THE ROPE TWIST CARVED BOTTOM RAIL WITH SCALLOPED DECORATION, THE WHOLE FRAMED WITH CARVED EGG AND DART MOULDINGS.
PROBABLY ONE OF THE FINEST ENGLISH WALL CUPBOARDS IN EXISTANCE. POSSIBLY WEST COUNTRY.
