A RARE AND LARGE PAIR OF ENGLISH TUDOR OAK PANELS. CIRCA 1530-1540.

THESE IMPORTANT DEEPLY CARVED TUDOR OAK PANELS DEPICT A CROWNED KING HENRY VIII AT COURT SEATED ON HIS THRONE, FLANKED BY HIS COURTIERS, BENEATH HIS FEET IS A LION DRAPED ON AN ALTAR. POSSIBLY AT THE TIME OF THE REFORMATION. THE PANELS CARVED WITHIN AN ARCH WITH FLUTED COLUMNS, FLANKED BY CRESENT MOON INLAY TO THE TOP CORNERS. THE SECOND PANEL AGAIN WITHIN AN ARCH WITH FLUTED COLUMNS DEPICTING SEVEN RAVENS ENCIRCLING A CENTRAL COLUMN FLANKED BY TWO CHERUBS, AGAIN WITH CRESENT MOON INLAY TO THE TOP CORNERS.
