A RARE LATE 17TH CENTURY OAK HANGING FOOD HUTCH. WEST COUNTRY. CIRCA 1650.
THIS RARE HANGING FOOD HUTCH IS IN TOTALLY ORIGINAL CONDITION. IT AMAZINGLY HAS ITS ORIGINAL HANGING RAIL,HANDLES,ESCUTCHEONS AND LOCKS. THIS HUTCH CUPBOARD WOULD HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED FROM A CEILING TO PREVENT VERMIN GETTING AT THE FOOD INSIDE AND LOWERED BY A ROPE WHEN ACCESS TO THE FOOD WAS NEEDED. THE PANELS ARE ALL PERFERATED FOR VENTILATION TO KEEP THE FOOD FRESH. MOST PROBABLY FROM THE DEVON AREA.
