There are options that will allow you to add a touch of interest, maximise the available space or simply just give some extra surface area where you might need it.
For those who are looking for some period update to the living space, a good side table can easily do the trick.
Side tables have a number of uses including storage of books, support of lamps, a picture frame or simply a cup of tea. Even in the world of antiques the options of antique ocassional tables  vary from the simple ones with clean lines to the ornate ones with fancy feet.
If you want an antique feature in your home without an imposing presence and something that isn’t way too heavy on the pockets an antique side table makes a great option.

A great example of an antique side table is this Fine Charles II solid yew wood side table. circa 1680.
The pegged top is above a frieze moulded drawer, standing on bobbin and reel turned legs and stretchers.
It has original toes to all legs. The escutcheon is original, the pear-drop handles are period but old replacements.
It has outstanding colour and patination.
