Antiques add charm, history and mystery to your decor.  Invariably they also appreciate in value as opposed to a new piece of furniture.

There are different kinds of antique furniture items that you can incorporate in your home to bring in the feel of the old world. Antique dressers are one such kind of furniture items that are packed with an aesthetic appeal and are at the same time functional.

A Welsh dresser (British English) or a china hutch (American English), sometimes known as a kitchen dresser or pewter cupboard, is a piece of wooden furniture consisting of drawers and cupboards in the lower part, with shelves and perhaps a sideboard on top. Antique dressers were initially used for storing dining essentials such as cutlery, crockery etc.

These later came to be put to a number of uses and are use in versatile ways in the modern homes. Often the dresser base was used separately and found its way into many rooms in addition to the kitch or dingiong area.

At Period Oak Antiques we have a small but select and high quality collection of antique oak Welsh dressers and English dressers.
For example this Fine early 18th century oak and cherrywood cross banded montgomeryshire potboard serving dresser. circa 1710. It has  a 1 1/4 " thick two planked top above three oak and cherrywood crossbanded drawers. Below is a heavy waist moulding and wonderful shaped freize, standing on four turned legs with a potboard base. It all has a very warm natural pleasing colour and patination.
