REPUTEDLY DISCOVERED IN A MANOR HOUSE CLOSE TO MUCHELNEY ABBEY, MUCHELNEY, SOMERSET. THIS RARE TABLE CHAIR HAS A FIVE PLANKED TOP ABOVE A SLIDING BOX SEAT, THE FRONT,SIDES AND BACK ALL WITH CARVED PARCHEMIN PANELS, AGAIN SIMILAR TO THE BENCH IN MUCHELNEY ABBEY ,SEE ATTACHED IMAGE. IT HAS A WONDERFUL UNTOUCHED COLOUR AND PATINATION. ILLUSTRATED IN THE ENGLISH SMILE BY MICHAEL DANN, PG 60. PURCHASED FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTION. A PIECE LET INTO THE LEFT ARM AND RUNNERS TO THE BOX SEAT REPLACED, BUT THE SEAT IS ORIGINAL.
