THIS VERY ATTRACTIVE FOURPOSTER BED PROBABLY ORIGINATED FROM THE WEST COUNTRY, DEVON / SOMERSET BORDERS. IT IS VERY SIMILAR IN DETAIL TO THE FIXED WALL SETTLES IN THIS AREA. THE LINENFOLD PANELS ALSO HAVE THE DELICATE LACEWORK CARVED TOPS AS SEEN IN V. CHINNERY, OAK THE BRITISH TRADITION, PG 420. FIG 4:18a, ALSO PG 236 AND 237. THE HEADBOARD WITH TWO SERPENT CARVED PANELS WITH ROPE TWIST CARVED TOPS AND CENTRAL FINIAL, FLANKED BY LOZENGE AND BUD CARVED UPRIGHTS, BELOW ARE FOUR CARVED LINENFOLD PANELS WITH LACEWORK CARVED TOPS. THE FOOTPOSTS CARVED WITH SPIRAL TWIST KNULL CARVING AND TREE OF LIFE DECORATION.

19TH CENTURY RESTORATIONS HAVE BEEN UNDERTAKEN TO A HIGH STANDARD .
GOOD COLOUR AND PATINATION AND VERY STURDY.
