THIS FINE PAIR OF TUDOR LIMESTONE LION FINIALS ARE FROM APPLEBY CASTLE, WESTMORELAND AND WOULD HAVE MOST PROBABLY BEEN PART OF A BUILDINGS STRUCTURE. ONE SLIGHTLY MORE WEATHERED THAN THE OTHER BUT EQUALLY AS IMPRESSIVE. BOTH IN THE SEJANT POSITION HOLDING A SHIELD, WONDERFUL IMPRESSIVE SCULPTURES.
